After Bari I continued south to the city of Lecce. This was a nice city full for lovely Baroque churches, I spent a bit of my time wandering from church to church. The altar pieces in many of these churches are ridiculously ornate. I would have to look more carefully through my pictures to match the church exterior with interior, so here is everything mixed up a bit.

I always wonder if the artists for these ornate churches were making this art to represent their feelings about the glory of god, or making the art to represent the desires of the church to show wealth and power...
